Rania Refaat is an Egyptian artist living in Germany, whose multifaceted journey bridges the realms of law and art. A celebrated actress, director, and writer, she is the visionary founder of The Pergola Puppet Theater in both Egypt and Germany. For Rania, art is a magical medium to unveil the depths of human nature and address pressing social and political issues.
Her diverse contributions and impact on society earned her the title of “Most Influential Woman in Egypt” in 2014, following a public poll conducted by the Cairo Center for Development. She was also honored with the Creativity Shield, an award presented by the Creativity Center in El-Mahalla El-Kubra to recognize women artists who inspire social change.
In 2015, Rania was invited as a speaker at TEDx Cairo Women, sharing her vision and experiences. That same year, she was named “Personality of the Year” by Japan’s Akahata magazine.
